Ed began fishing at around five years old, introduced to the sport by his father an old-school match angler who ran competitions for his club in York. After the family relocated to Somerset, the pair spent time coarse fishing on the local rivers. However, it wasn’t until his mid-teens that Ed landed his first carp—an experience that instantly hooked him and marked the start of a lifelong passion for carp angling.
He later took a break from fishing to deal with personal struggles, but returned with a renewed mindset and one clear aim: to enjoy his time on the bank and to use fishing as a way to support his mental health. Initially, Ed preferred quiet, secluded waters and often fished alone. That changed when he joined Club Carp and began attending social events, which not only expanded his network but also gave him access to some of the best waters in the UK and more recently, top-tier venues across Europe.
Today, Ed is proud to serve as a consultant for Commando Tackle and is honoured to play a role in pushing the brand and team forward. At present, he’s fishing a couple of Club waters while also travelling around the UK whenever possible.
His current goals are to beat his UK personal best, develop his filming and photography skills, and continue helping others make the most of their time on the bank.

          Most Memorable Catch
One of Ed’s most memorable and significant captures came at Sandhurst, during a Club Carp social event. The fish in question, known as "The Armadillo", was a remarkable catch, not only for its size and beauty but also for the story it told. The capture of "The Armadillo" marked a perfect blend of the joy of fishing with the sense of community that Ed had gained from attending the social. For Ed, this wasn’t just about landing a fish; it was about celebrating the shared experiences, the friendships forged, and the camaraderie that made the event so special. This moment is a symbol of how fishing, for Ed, is as much about the journey as it is about the catch.
